Mize
Crissy Mize is a certified Group exercise instructor and an ACSM certified personal trainer. She also has her Certified Strength and Conditioning certification through NCSF and her sports nutrition certification with ACE.
Having been in athletics since age five, she is no stranger to the gym. However, in 2011 she found herself tired, overweight and very sick. In June of 2012, she was facing her third abdominal surgery in just six months and decided it was time to make a change. She started taking Zumba classes, trail running and lifting weights while making dietary changes that included more raw, whole foods and within 18 months was down 80lbs. During that weight loss journey, she certified to teach Zumba. After teaching for 6 months, she was asked repeatedly by women in her class how to not just lose weight but also tighten up and get stronger. After finding out from all inquiries that none ever lifted weights, she decided to come up with a format to remedy this issue. H.E.A.T.™ was conceived with the idea that lifting weights choreographed to the beat of great music would produce the results her members were looking for!
H.E.A.T.™ or High Energy Aerobic Toning is the original fitness format to match lifting weights with the beat of a song. This class utilizes light weights and high reps choreographed to heart pumping music to ramp up heart rates, torch calories and strengthen the entire body.

SUCCESS STORIES
I was invited to HEAT approximately 2 months ago. I was a little hesitant, but went anyway & was pleasantly surprised. I was absolutely hooked after my first class! It was a different, fun, intense, new, super charged workout that was packed in a compact time frame. The trainers are energetic, passionate, & motivate you to push harder to reach that next level. I've already seen positive results that have included improved strength & definition. I love HEAT & would recommend it to anyone of any fitness level. HEATTM is a one of a kind experience unlike any other workout. It's a fun way to get in shape and has helped me become the person I knew I could be. I have gained muscle in parts of my body that I didn't even know existed! When taking a heat class I sometimes forget that I'm working out because I'm having so much fun. My first HEATTM class I didn't know what to expect! I imagined old school aerobic exercises! Attending Crissy's HEAT totally changed my perspective! Her arm exercises were simple enough to do at home yet challenging enough to cause my arms to be sore, days after! That being said, I've been able to find time, during the day, to do arm toning.
I appreciate there not being too many moves to remember/follow, just repetitive moves with an increase or decrease in weight!

Dance fitness is fun and gets my heart rate up, but the HEATTM class is by far my favorite. I'm getting my muscle tone back so quickly and that's all the lifting I do right now!!!

I have attended many different classes at the YMCA, Step, BOSU, bootcamp, body pump, etc. All of the classes were ok, I mostly just went for exercise, not because I enjoyed them. When I heard about HEATTM I was anxious to try it. I was excited to be challenged in a new way. I was always intimidated using the barbells and weights in the body pump class. I was never confident in the way I was holding the bar, always afraid I was going to pull a muscle or hurt my back. The light weights and high repetitions are really challenging, in a good way. I have always enjoyed dance classes however it never provided any arm exercise. Heat combines my love of dance and increases my strength and muscle tone in my arms
